Reflections of Self is a group exhibition presented by TROU, bringing together Melbourne-based artists working across portrait photography and videography. The exhibition explores identity as a layered and evolving experience shaped by memory, environment, culture, and community.
Through portrait-centred works, artists offer intimate visual responses to questions of self-perception, belonging, and direction. Each piece acts as a reflection, inviting audiences to consider who they are, where they are going, and how they see themselves within the world around them.
By focusing on portraiture, the exhibition highlights the relationship between the individual and their context, recognising that identity is not formed in isolation but through lived experience and connection to others. The works presented create space for nuanced and authentic self-representations, particularly from underrepresented voices.
Participating artists include Riotfruit, Issy Napolitano, Tanmaya Dubey, Alain Pottier, Guste Sakalauskaite, Jackie Zhou, El Sugunananthan, Panashe Nathaniel Mugayapi, and Seran and Moni.
Through this exhibition, TROU continues its commitment to supporting emerging creatives and amplifying diverse artistic voices across Melbourne.
This program is proudly supported by Creative Australia and Maribyrnong City Council.
